Eddie Roche - Primary Care Wirral Chairman

Chairman

I am one of Primary Care Wirral’s founders and Chairman.

My role with PCW largely involves strategic and relationship development, clinically informing pathway design, and working with member practices to help them manage the many demands of developing general practice at scale, along the lines of the NHS Long Term Plan.

As well as my role for PCW, I work as a GP Partner for Marine Lake Medical Centre in West Kirby, Wirral. I have been a partner there since 2011 and I am lead GP for safeguarding, elderly, end of life and dementia care. In addition to these clinical interests, I am very interested in developing good systems for clinical governance.

I also hold a part time role as a clinical governance lead for a digital healthcare provider who is increasingly working with the NHS in the UK.

As Chair of Primary Care Wirral I help drive our organisation to inform and lead change in health and social care services in Wirral, ensuring our communities benefit from effective, safe and sustainable care delivery. A focal point of my approach is to enable the concept of ‘enhanced general practice’ but to do it in a way that is understanding of the needs of our partner care providers, and the wishes of our patients.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 kids, I run over various distances for a local running club and I enjoy playing the guitar and watching rugby union.
