Brighter Birkenhead, Healthier South Wirral and Healthier West Wirral will work with their federation to develop as Primary Care Networks.
Primary Care Wirral will provide legal, finance, managerial and HR support as these PCNs shape their governance structures.
Flexible support open to all GP practices
The federation has designed a flexible and cost-effective offering for practices who need assistance.
However, each network will be able to decide which areas they would like the federation to be involved in, encompassing a wide range of services and provisions.
Support is not only for PCW member practices, but also to all GP surgeries in Wirral in need of help in setting up and running their PCNs.
Working in Healthcare Integration since 2016
The PCW team have been working in the design of sustainable, integrated models of care for Wirral since its inception in 2016.
PCW Chairman Dr. Eddie Roche is a keen advocate of integrated healthcare systems.
“The introduction of PCNs as a key element of the GP Contract 2019 finally gave general practice the opportunity to implement collaborative models of care, within a structured and regulated framework.
“However, this not without challenges, due to the limited timeframe and the complexity of setting up Primary Care Networks.
“It is key for the success of PCNs that practices receive clear guidance and help.
“Given the experience of our team in clinical and managerial aspects of healthcare integration, the altruistic nature of the federation and its flexible structure, this is a role that Primary Care Wirral is ideally positioned to play.”
